From the great Majid Khan to Saeed Anwar, the Pakistan team has been lucky to have several successful opening pairs who have won lots of matches for the country. Here is a look at the four best opening pairs in Test cricket for Pakistan
 
Mohsin Khan & Mudassar Nazar, (1981-1986)

Both right-handers came together at the start of the 1980s to form a formidable opening partnership for Pakistan. In 54 innings together in partnership, Moshin Khan and Muddassar Nazar amassed 2057 runs at an average of 39.55. This included 16 half-century stands and three-time the pair breached the 100 marks in partnership. Nazar Nazar was a patient opener who showed great determination not to give his wicket away under any circumstances while Mohsin was more elegant and relied on stroke play thus complementing each other.

Aamer Sohail & Saeed Anwar, (1994-2000)

The dynamic duo of Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail were a regular feature in both formats for Pakistan. Both left-handers were an absolute nightmare for the oppositions and were capable of winning the game single-handedly. The pair opened the batting for Pakistan in 37 innings and scored 1,563 runs at a healthy average of 44.65. Four times in partnership they registered 100-run stands with eight 50-plus scores. Many are of the view that this was Pakistan's best opening partnership.

Mohammad Hafeez & Taufeeq Umar, (2003-2012)
 
Hafeez and Taufeeq were Pakistan's opening pair for the first two Test matches for Pakistan against Bangladesh at home. After failing to make a substantive contribution in the first one, the opening pair put on 51 and 140 in the first and second innings respectively in Peshawar. Surprisingly, the duo then had to wait for seven years to resume their partnership at the top. The pair accumulated 1,438 runs in 39 innings together with five 100 run stands and 7 half-centuries. They were a vital cog in Pakistan's early domination on UAE pitches.
 
Majid Khan & Sadiq Mohammad, (1974-1978)
 
The duo complimented each other brilliantly. In an era when pitches were notoriously hard to bat on, Sadiq Mohammad stood up to even the toughest of challenges with his grit while Majid was more of a fluent player. In 26 innings together, the pair scored 1,391 runs at an average of 60.47 with 147 their highest partnership coming against New Zealand at the National Stadium Karachi.
