New Zealand edge out England to become top-ranked ODI side in latest rankings

New Zealand on Monday replaced England as the No.1 ranked ODI side in the world, it was announced by the International Cricket Council.

England have slipped down to fourth spot with 115 points but they retain their top spot in the T20I rankings. New Zealand have also gained advantage in the T20I rankings, as they moved up two spots to occupy the third place.

New Zealand have won 20 of their last 30 games in past three years, where they claimed series wins over India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh as well as ended up being the runners up in World Cup 2019.

Australia have moved up two places with 118 points while India are now occupying the third spot with 115 points.

The reason for England dropping down is because they lost to India and Australia as well as an ODI against Ireland. The results from 2018/19 and 2019/20 are given 50 percent weightage whereas matches since May 2020 are given full weightage.

The update in Test rankings will be done after the conclusion of ongoing Zimbabwe-Pakistan series.
