If Sajid Khan can make debut after performing in first-class cricket, then Tabish also deserves a chance to play - Kamran Akmal

Kamran Akmal has called for Tabish Khan’s inclusion in the Pakistan side for second Test against Zimbabwe.

According to Akmal, if off-spinner Sajid Khan can make it to the side after one solid first-class season, then Tabish Khan also deserves to get a run after performing consistently in domestic cricket for long.

“Tabish has almost 600 wickets [in first-class cricket],” said Kamran on his YouTube channel [as quoted by Cricket Pakistan]. “If Sajid Khan can make debut after being the top wicket-taker in one first-class season, then Tabish also deserves a chance to play a Test match against Zimbabwe considering that he has been performing for the past 12-13 seasons.”

He also said that the likes of Abdullah Shafique and Saud Shakeel should be given a chance as Zimbabwe are a weak side. “Zimbabwe is a very weak side and Pakistan can win the Test match even if they field their third-string side. Pakistan should rest their top pacers, like Faheem, Shaheen and Hasan and give opportunities to new bowlers,” he said.

“Zahid Mehmood deserves to make debut, while in batting Saud Shakeel and Abdullah Shafique should be given a chance. Azhar Ali and one of the openers could be rested to make place for these players. This is the perfect opportunity to give players confidence and experience,” he further added.

Pakistan had edged Zimbabwe out comfortably by an innings and 116 runs. Fawad Alam stood out yet again with his 140 while Hasan Ali took nine wickets in the Test match. The two sides will face in the second Test on May 7 at Harare.
