When the captain is like a brother and friend, you get a lot of confidence: Faheem Ashraf

The handy all-rounder, Faheem Ashraf, is raring to get back his bowling rhythm against Zimbabwe in the three-match T20I and two Tests. The pinch-hitter has the coveted ability to up the ante and often doesn't capitulates under pressure. The seam-bowling all-rounder has taken 34 wickets in T20Is and his economy hovers around 7.57.

In the batting department, he averages 41.25 in Tests but the statistics aren't too impressive when we switch to T20I and ODI cricket.

Ashraf is under no false sense of security and doesn't want to slide towards complacency against a low-ranked Zimbabwe side. He is of the view that no side in their home conditions is a weak opponent and he wants to be wary of the challenge.

"Away series anywhere is a difficult one and we will try to perform well in T20 and Test series. The captain has given us a lot of confidence and he has a big role in my improvement. When you beat a team at their home, it boosts morale to a great extent," said Faheem Ashraf.

"The more you put the effort into batting bowling fielding, the more reward you get. Fast bowling requires rhythm and when you are bowling with rhythm, then there is no looking back. And all all-rounders always enjoy batting," he added.

Ashraf is going through the drills and practice regime as they do before facing off any other top-ranked side. The all-rounder enjoys the support of his leader, Babar Azam, and stated how Babar Azam gives respect to his teammates which motivates him to strive harder.

"Zimbabwe play well in their conditions and we are not taking them lightly and we are considering them like other teams and our practice is the same as on any other tour. When the captain is like a brother and friend, you don't feel like coming under pressure and you get a lot of confidence if you get respect and you then strive to perform well (for your captain)," said Ashraf.
