Wahab Riaz disappointed over national team omission, aims to make a strong comeback

In an exclusive interview with Shoaib Jatt (Ary News), fast bowler Wahab Riaz revealed the disappointment over the way he was dropped from Pakistan national side based on the performance of just one series.

The left-arm pacer hinted that he might not be on the list of favourite players.

“If you ask me honestly, I was disheartened on getting dropped after having just one bad series against New Zealand. I was a top-performer in home series against Zimbabwe, in England and also before that,” Wahab said.

The 35-year-old further commented on the lack of experience in Pakistan's bowling line-up, stating that there should be a blend of youth and seniors.

“If you look at Pakistan’s current bowling attack, it lacks experience, however, we [me and Mohammad Amir] have experience and have performed,” he added.

“We don’t have to prove to anyone but it is up to them [selectors] to induct us or not,” he maintained.

He revealed that chief selector Mohammad Wasim has asked him to work on his bowling to be looked at for selection.

“I am being told by chief selector that my bowling form is not upto the mark. I am working on it and you will see improvement,” the pacer said

Wahab is confident of making a comeback in the T20I series against England, scheduled in July 2021 after performing in the PSL 6, due to restart in June.

He also refuted claims that Peshawar Zalmi blackmailed the board, adding that none of the Zalmi squad players or staff tested positive
