Saqib Mahmood decides against turning up for Peshawar Zalmi in rescheduled PSL

England and Peshawar Zalmi paceman Saqib Mahmood has decided against turning up for his franchise Peshawar Zalmi in the upcoming rescheduled Pakistan Super League.

The Pakistan Super League, which was staged in February and March this year, had to be postponed since coronavirus broke into the bio-secure bubble and started affecting players and officials.

The Pakistan Cricket Board then rescheduled the tournament to June 1 at the same venue as a bio-secure bubble will be put in place by a UK-based company.

Saqib, who was an integral part of the Zalmi pace-bowling stock with highest number of wickets in the sixth edition, said the timing of the rescheduled tournament meant that he won’t be able to turn up for the tournament.

“Really enjoyed my time with @peshawarzalmipk in #PSL6 earlier this year but given the timing of the rescheduled tournament in June I will be unavailable for the remainder and will be playing for my county @lancashirecricket,” he posted on social media.

“I would like to thank everyone at Peshawar for making my time such an enjoyable one and would love to return to play there again in the future, when the timing is right #yellowstorm.”

The replacement draft for the PSL-6 will be held on April 27 as teams will be getting to complete their squads as some players won’t be able to make the cut due to other national/domestic commitments.
