Russel Arnold lauds Babar Azam on becoming fastest to amass 2000 T20I runs
Tumbling records and Babar Azam's name has become synonymous over the recent past. After making a half-century in the final match of the T20I series against Zimbabwe, Babar Azam has become the fastest player to score 2000 runs in T20I cricket.
He has reached the milestone in 52 innings, overtaking Virat Kohli who took 56 international appearances for India to amass 2000 runs.
Australia's Aaron Finch consumed 62, Kiwi's Brendon McCullum took 66, Martin Guptill took 68 while Irish cricketer Paul Stirling scored 2000 T20I runs in 72 innings.
Sri Lanka former batsman and now commentator, Russel Arnold took note of Babar'z sensational performance and expressed admiration after the Pakistan skipper made the record of scoring 2000 runs in 52 knocks.
"It’s amazing that such a classy player gets to this milestone quicker than anyone else #2000T20Iruns It’s not all slogs and power .. Congratulations," said Arnold in a tweet.
Pakistan pacer Rumman Raees was all praise for Babar Azam on his achievement.
"Congratulations to Babar Azam on becomes the fastest to score 2000 runs in T20I So proud of you brother, keep doing well and make more records," said Rumman in a tweet.
After displacing Virat Kohli from the No.1 spot in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings of late, Babar has outrun his contemporary genius from India and became the fastest batter to accumulate 2000 runs in T20I cricket.
