Rajasthan Royals pacer Andrew Tye pulls out of IPL 2021 due to personal reasons

Rajasthan Royals paceman Andrew Tye has left the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 bio-secure bubble and flown back to Australia due to personal reasons.

The franchise confirmed the news via Twitter on Sunday.

"AJ Tye flew back to Australia earlier today due to personal reasons. We will continue to offer any support he may need. #RoyalsFamily" RR tweeted.

Before the franchise made an official announcement, Director of Cricket Operations Kumar Sangakkara was seen telling players that Tye will be leaving on Sunday in a video released by Royals.

“AJ is leaving in the morning at 4 AM, so all of you boys who wanna say bye to him and thank you, he’s been part of the squad. He’s offered a lot of himself and his thoughts,” Sangakkara said to the players while Tye was also present in the dressing room.

The 34-year-old becomes the third Royals' overseas player to leave the tournament midway. Prior to him, England all-rounder Ben Stokes was ruled out due to finger injury and his national teammate, Liam Livingstone also withdrew due to bubble fatigue.

The sixth-placed Royals were also hit by the news of their premium pacer, Jofra Archer, missing the remainder of the IPL as he continues to recover his elbow injury.

Tye, however, was yet to feature for the Royals this season. He played only one match in the last edition of the tournament.

Jos Buttler, Chris Morris, David Miller and Mustafizur Rahman are the only four overseas players currently available for selection in the Royals squad.
