Lakshan Sandakan, Chamika Karunaratne added to Sri Lanka's Test squad against Bangladesh

The first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh was played on a batting paradise as the two teams scored in excess of 500 in their first innings. The match was drawn on the last day but the hosts have lost two of their players.

According to recent reports, fast bowler Lahiru Kumara and young left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka have been ruled out of the Test series against Bangladesh after sustaining injuries.

The duo has been replaced by Lakshan Sandakan and young medium-fast bowler Chamika Karunaratne. Kumara bowled 28 overs in the first innings of Bangladesh and conceded 88 runs taking just one wicket.

The only successful bowler for Sri Lanka was Vishwa Fernando who took 4/96 in 35 overs. The Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne grabbed all the limelight for his maiden double ton as he smacked a wonderful 244. Dhananjaya de Silva also had a wonderful outing with the bat scoring 166.

For Bangladesh, centuries from Najmul Hossain Shanto (163) and captain Mominul Haque (127) took them to a huge first-innings total of 541. In reply, the Islanders went on to score 648/8 and declared their innings on Day 5 to enforce a draw. The second Test of the series starts on April 29 at the Pallekele cricket ground.
