KKR captain Morgan fined for slow over-rate against CSK

After Mumbai Indians' skipper Rohit Sharma, Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) captain Eoin Morgan has also been fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate in their last game against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

This is the first time KKR has breached the new IPL guidelines regarding slow over-rate this season and if it happens again, the fine of the captain gets doubled (INR 24 lakh) and the rest of the team also gets to pay 25% of their fee or INR 6 lakh – whichever is lesser.

If a particular team commits the offence for the third time in an ongoing season, the captain will have to pay a fine of INR 30 lakh and will sit out for one month. The rest of his team members will also be charged INR 12 lakh or 50% of the match fee - whichever is lesser. For any subsequent offences, the same sanctions will be applied.

So far, the Morgan-led KKR has lost three out of their first four matches and are sitting at the bottom of the table just ahead of Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.
