Two Aussie players Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa had decided to leave the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) journey, however, they're still stuck in India, awaiting their return to Australia.
Meanwhile, Cricket Australia (CA) is in talks with the Australian government to make arrangements for the return of their two players who had opted out of their individual IPL contracts.
It's been more than 24 hours since Zampa and Richardson left the bio-secure bubble, following their pulling out from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise.
On the other hand, the Australian government has suspended all direct flights from India and it seems Zampa and Richardson will have to stay there till May 15, when the ban on temporary travel will get lifted.
According to Cricbuzz, the two players, after leaving their franchise on April 25 moved to a nearby hotel alongside Mumbai airport. Since then, the Bangalore-based franchise has moved to Ahmedabad to take part in their next couple of matches.
A senior spokesperson from CA has confirmed that the board is trying to get an update from the government regarding the return of Zampa and Richardson.
Furthermore, they're also in continuous talks with the Australian Cricketers Association (ACA) and DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) to check if they can manage to find a way for the duo to return back home before May 15.
"We are trying to see if the government does give us the go-ahead to bring the players back. If we get the nod, it's all pretty straightforward. But if not, we'll be working with the ACA and BCCI to make sure they're in a secure environment," the spokesperson said.
Earlier Australian pacer Andrew Tye went back to Australia after the Covid-19 surge in the country.
